Critical Care Transport Paramedic:
This is a 400 hour advanced level course for the experienced Paramedic in regards to providing care, monitoring and transporting a critically complex ill or injured patient.
· Topics include: Trauma Critical Care, Aircraft Fundamentals, Safety and Survival Flight Physiology, Advanced Airway Management Techniques, Neurological Emergencies, Critical Cardiac Care, Critical Respiratory Care, Toxicology, Obstetrical Emergencies and Critical Care for the Mom and Neonate, Pediatric Critical Care, Critical Burn Care, Medical and Endocrine related Critical Care, Advanced Assessment, Advanced Pharmacology, and a thorough review of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology.
· Specialty monitoring and troubleshooting of critical equipment such as mechanical ventilators, Ventricular Assist Devices, Aortic Balloon Pumps, arterial lines, invasive hemodynamic monitoring devices, intracranial pressure manometers/drains, pleural decompression drains and IV pumps.
· Our program offers the CCP student hands on clinical experiences in the Cath Lab, ICU, ER, L&D, Pediatric departments and upon ground Critical Care transport and Flight Critical Care transport rotations.
· Students applying for admission to the Critical Care Transport Paramedic program must have a current Paramedic licensure and have at least 2 years of prehospital experience.
· Criminal background checks and drug screens are required by clinical affiliates.
· Successful course completion allows the candidate the opportunity to sit for the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification (BCCTPC) for:
- Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C)
- Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C)
